Stillwater, Minn. (January 7, 2026) -- Now in its 60th year, Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter will be kicking off the New Year with its annual and must-attend traditions. While being serenaded by Minnesota’s most sought-after strolling accordionists–such as Mike Opitz, Bill Koncar, and Dan Turpening–mouthwatering fare served in a traditional lodge-like restaurant crowns Stillwater’s culinary scene.
If you are in the mood to celebrate love this Valentine’s Day, make reservations at the Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter. For one special night only, the Gasthaus will be offering a prix fixe Valentine’s Day Dinner for two on Saturday, February 14, 2026, with seatings every half-hour beginning at 4:00pm. A delectable feature of Schweinbraten (pork roast) smothered in Kirsche-Soße (cherry sauce) with a complimentary drink for the each of you is served with a Rote Grütze (red berry) desert to share. (A limited selection of optional cold appetizers is available for an additional charge.)
Join with the community at the Gasthaus on Aschermittwochen (Ash Wednesday, February 18th) and every Friday during Lent thru and including Karfreitag (Good Friday, April 3rd). Our Lenten fish special is three healthy pieces of Kabeljau (cod) served alongside Kartoffelbrei (mashed potatoes) and Krautsalat (coleslaw).
Make sure to get your reservations to eat the best corned beef and cabbage in Minnesota on St. Patrick’s Day weekend. (We will be closed on St. Patrick’s Day, Tuesday, March 17th.) This event is so sought after, Gasthaus will be serving this limited-a-time, once-a-year delight two days in 2026: Saturday, March 14th and Sunday, March 15th.
The all-you-can-eat buffets are returning in 2026: our Easter Buffet on Sunday, April 5; and our Mother’s Day Buffet on Sunday, May 10. Each buffet’s first seating is at 10:00am and the final seating is at 2:30pm. Reservations with your family are required as we will be limiting this year’s service to 400 people. (We will be closing after the brunch buffets so we workers of the Gasthaus can spend time with our families after we serve you and yours.)
